After leaving my former practice on December 31, 2012 to start my own allergy practice, I waited out a one-year non-compete agreement. This 52-week sabbatical was an opportunity of a lifetime, and one I haven’t taken for granted. Thanks to a 15-year relationship with Dave Ramsey and a committed teammate/soulmate/wife, we were able to pursue interests which I had put off due to time constraints or because I had not been brave enough to tackle. I coached my youngest son’s t-ball team. I dusted off my guitar. I read more. I learned to blog. I picked my children up from school.
My family rang in the New Year in Florida with my parents. Over the course of the year, we traveled east coast to west coast, from the Biltmore to Yellowstone. Tent camping for nearly a month out west and visiting 14 national parks awakened a spirit in me and offered peace, clarity and appreciation for God’s majesty. It was an unforgettable and cherished family adventure. My mantra for the year became, “Because I can.”
As I look forward to opening day, I am filled with thanksgiving. I am thankful for the past and excited about the future. I have been so blessed, and I can’t wait for you to meet my team. I miss seeing patients, and I have a zeal to throw open the doors and resume the practice of allergy. It’s what I love and believe I’m good at…
